Back in ’96, Slovenia organized the junior track world championship in Češča Vas near Novo Mesto. A brand new velodrome was built specifically for this purpose, named to be one of the best ones in the world. Sadly, the surroundings and time took its toll and the velodrome slowly went into oblivion. A similar story with a different historic background is happening on the other side of the country in Stražišče near Kranj. And jet, something is changing. There is a renewed interest in the track disciplines and the two only velodromes in Slovenia are finally getting some attention after all.
For the 20th anniversary of the junior track world championship and the opening of the Češča Vas velodrome, we wanted to pay tribute to the humble beginnings that brought remarkable results. We firmly believe that we can bring track racing back to the place it belongs if we stand united and help and support each other. Let this print serve as a reminder of the simplicity and beauty of track racing, which plays an important role in the development of quality athletes even in Slovenia.
